Grouyan Gumbo
Cajun and creole music
For over 10 years, this Montreal ensemble has made us discover the warm and festive music of Louisiana. Inspired by the state’s greatest musicians, Grouyan Gumbo creates an explosive sound. The sound of the accordion and the obvious pleasure the band radiates will pull you into the ambiance of a hot and torrid evening. From Cajun to Creole, the repertoire of these 5 musicians is vast and beautifully rendered by the vocalists and their unique voices.
The sassy Cajun-tinted accents of singers Michael Ball (vocals and violin), Harlan Johnson (vocals and accordion) and Benoit LeBlanc (vocals and guitar) are beautifully accompanied by the rhythms and talents of two musicians: Jody Benjamin (percussion and guitar) and Jordan Officer (violin, guitar and lap-steel guitar).
